Natural Remedy For Mosquito Bites

There’s no doubt about it. Mosquitoes — and mosquito bites — are annoying. What’s worse, mosquito bites sometimes transmit serious diseases, such as West Nile virus, malaria and dengue fever. Although your risk of getting diseases from mosquito bites is low, your risk of being bothered by mosquito bites is high. In fact, mosquitoes may be so annoying that they interfere with your enjoyment of time spent outdoors. Although mosquitoes are most prevalent at dawn and dusk, it’s not always possible or desirable to stay indoors during those periods because they’re often peak times for fun activities.

Mosquito Bites Natural Remedies

The first thing you should do as soon as possible after getting bitten by a mosquito is to wash the affected area well with soap and water. Make sure to keep the area clean and dry as your bite heals.

Of course it’s easier said than done, but if you can avoid scratching or rubbing the affected area, you’ll be a lot better off. This also gives the natural remedy for mosquito bites time to work before you rub it off.

One of the most commonly suggested ways to eliminate the itching of mosquito bites is to make a paste out of baking soda and water, with just enough water to make the baking soda sticky.

Essential Oils:
Tea Tree, Witch Hazel, Cedar, Lavender Oil – apply in full strength directly into the affected area

Basil:
Crush a few leaves and rub in the affected area

Lemon:
Slice a lemon and rub or make a lemon juice and apply in the affected area

you can apply to bites are lemon juice, lime juice or other citrus juices that taste bitter. The inside of banana peel. Cider vinegar or white vinegar.

It is always best to put something on mosquito bites and sandfly bites for children. Children don’t know the meaning behind telling them not to scratch the bites and there is always a danger of the bite becoming infected because of scratching.

Try a mixture baking soad and viengar, mixing a teaspoon of each in a small bowl or dish and applying directly to the bite. The resulting bubbly poultice stops pain immeidately and reduces redness and swelling later. This is natural remedy for mosquito bites.

And for children, the bubbling keeps their minds off the sting and itch caused by the bite.
